Mélina Bernier was born in Rimouski in 1980. A poet, researcher and lecturer, she works as a consultant for various groups involved in the fight against AIDS, including aboriginal women, sex workers, gay men, and people of African and Caribbean origin. Mélina published her first book of poetry, Amour debout, with La Peuplade in March 2012. In October of the same year, she was part of the 28th International Poetry Festival of Trois-Rivières and published her Suite amoureuse in No. 93 of art magazine Le Sabord.
