This book takes us into a strange world where the names of Emma, Murielle and Marcel are identified with the bestiarii, those in the Roman circus who confronted the wild beasts or were delivered to them. “Bestiaries” were also anthologies of texts or images themed around fantastical and legendary animals. Here, however, there is no circus, no arena, not even fantastical animals, except for the disturbing passage of an eel at Emma’s feet. Henceforth, The Bestiarii are names and faces that look like they were erased and that inhabit a landscape, a scene where we don’t quite know what really happened.
